Adele Breaks Records After Hiatus
It has been four years since Adele graced the music world with her forceful presence. The British singer quickly became one of the largest breakout stars ever with hits like “Someone Like You” and “Rolling in the Deep.” Unfortunately, the talented artist experienced repeated bouts with illness, most notably a vocal chord hemorrhage in 2011. Her health issues resulted in 16 show cancellations and a fairly quick fade into a hiatus.
Fans have been rejoicing this fall, however. Adele not only overcame her health problems; she is breaking records. Her single “Hello” sold 1.1 million digital copies in its first week. It marked the first time a song has ever sold 1 million downloads in a week in the United States.
Billboard anticipates a tour announcement very soon. This would bring Adele back into the financial running game, as she wasn’t among the heavy hitters on the highest-paid women in music list on Forbes. Different sources have placed her net worth anywhere from $10 to $75 million, a pretty vast leap.
This year, the highest two earners on the Forbes highest-paid women in music 2015 were repeat appearances by Katy Perry and Taylor Swift. Perry smashed her peers by earning an impressive $135 million and Swift followed with a drool-worthy $80 million. If Adele’s success with “Hello” is any indication of what’s to come, The Life Elite anticipates Adele rising to the top five highest-paid women in music next year.
