Highest Paid Child Actors
Child stars often have complicated lives and histories. It isn’t uncommon for them to grow up fast or become the subjects of controversies as they age. In fact, they seldom get to have “normal” childhoods. None of these kids ever needed allowances. In fact, many of them make more in a year than most adults make in their lifetimes. Here are some of the highest paid child actors of all time.
Abigail Breslin (above) stole our hearts and an Oscar nomination for her phenomenal role in the hit indie film Little Miss Sunshine. Although the young actress is 18 years old today, the long-time actor certainly made a penny when she was a minor. It’s reported that she’s made upwards of $15,000 for an hour of voiceovers.
While Macaulay Culkin hasn’t been a child in many years, he’s still a record breaker. He was the first kid star to earn $1 million for a minor role. Surprisingly, this steep salary was for his role in My Girl, not his claim to fame Home Alone, which he reportedly made $100,000 for! He also earned $8 million for his role in Richie Rich. This was in the early 1990s, making the big check that much more impressive, too.
Jaden is the son of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith. For this reason, he’s received a lot of criticism. Whether it was mom and dad’s industry connections or not, we’ll leave for you to decide. What we do know is he is the highest paid child actor in the industry these days. He earned a reported $3 million for his role in the remake of The Karate Kid.
He’s all grown up but Harry Potter hasn’t stopped making films. Aside from his career, which includes mini series to independent films and Broadway hits, Radcliffe has an impressive salary evolution under his belt. He started at $1 million during the first Harry Potter. He earned $33 million for his role in the last film. Now that’s what we call inflation in the right direction!
